Q: How True Strength formed?

Q: Bagaimana True Strength terbentuk?
Ryan: True Strength formed in 2012 after some encouragement from my friend, Chris Clark (who was the drummer on the first album) and my family.

Q: Why did you choose True Strength as the band's name?

Ryan: The True Strength name is derived from Psalm 118:14 "The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation."
Jesus Christ is my True Strength and the source of all of the strength in my life. It was only fitting to name our band after Him!

Ryan: True Strength berasal dari Mazmur 118: 14 "TUHAN itu kekuatanku dan mazmurku; Ia telah menjadi keselamatanku."

Q: What the purpose of forming this band?

Q: Apa tujuan membentuk band ini?
Ryan: Chris and I wanted to form a Christian metal band that honored God, spread the Word of Jesus Christ and dedicated 100% of our music sales to charity. We wanted to mission to unbelieving Metalheads and provide encouragement to Christian Metalheads around the world.
Ryan: Chris dan saya ingin membentuk sebuah band metal Kristen yang memuliakan Allah, menyebarkan Firman Yesus Kristus dan didedikasikan 100% dari penjualan musik kami untuk amal. Kami ingin misi untuk Metalheads percaya dan memberikan dorongan untuk Metalheads Kristen di seluruh dunia.

Q: Do you guys have a testimony with Christ in your life?
Q: Apa kalian mempunyai kesaksian bersama Kristus?
Ryan: I came to Christ in 2007. Before Christ, my life was in shambles and I had little to nothing to hope for. I mistreated my family and friends for years and I was lost, stumbling around in life with no direction and devoured by sin. I decided that I was going to take my life by ingesting poison. Before I could do so, I felt a calling in my heart to go to a nearby mountain. On that mountain I walked up a trail until I reached an old pine tree. There, I began to cry and argue with God about my life, I confessed my many sins to Him and I prayed for Christ to save me. Then, a strong wind blew and I heard instructions in my heart to sit by the large, flat rock that was underneath the tree. My tears were dried by the wind and I heard instructions in my heart to pick the seed pod off of some wild grass next to me and eat it. I then heard the message of John 12:24 in my heart, when Jesus said: "Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." I sat in silence for a while, and slowly my heart was comforted and I began to feel stronger. I felt an undescribable peace in my heart! Suddenly a voice in my heart said, "Rise, soldier of God!" and I stood up, walked down the mountain and I have lived my life for Him ever since! Praise Lord Jesus Christ for having mercy on me and for His saving Grace!!
Ryan: Saya datang kepada Kristus pada tahun 2007. Sebelum mengenal Kristus, hidup saya berantakan dan saya hanya memiliki sedikit harapan. Saya dianiaya keluarga dan teman-teman saya selama bertahun-tahun dan saya hilang, terpontang-panting di dalam hidup tanpa arah dan dimakan oleh dosa. Saya memutuskan ingin mengakhiri hidup saya dengan menelan racun. Sebelum aku melakukannya, saya merasakan panggilan dalam hati saya untuk pergi ke gunung di dekatnya. Di gunung itu aku berjalan sampai aku mencapai pohon pinus tua. Di sana, saya mulai menangis dan berdebat dengan Tuhan tentang kehidupan saya, saya mengaku banyak dosa kepada-Nya dan saya berdoa pada Kristus untuk menyelamatkan saya. Kemudian, angin kencang bertiup dan aku mendengar sesuatu di hati saya untuk duduk di batu datar yang ada di bawah pohon. Air mataku kering oleh angin dan aku mendengar sesuatu di hati saya untuk mengambil benih dari rumput liar di samping saya dan memakannya. Saya kemudian mendengar pesan dari Yohanes 12:24 dalam hati saya, ketika Yesus berkata: "Aku berkata kepadamu: Sesungguhnya jikalau biji gandum tidak jatuh ke dalam tanah dan mati, ia tetap satu biji saja; tetapi jika ia mati, ia akan menghasilkan banyak buah." Aku duduk diam selama beberapa saat, dan perlahan-lahan hati saya terhibur dan saya mulai merasa lebih kuat. Saya merasakan kedamaian yang tak bisa didefinisikan dalam hati saya! Tiba-tiba suara dalam hati saya berkata, "Bangunlah, tentara Allah!" dan aku berdiri, berjalan turun gunung dan saya tetap hidup bagi-Nya sejak itu! Puji Tuhan Yesus Kristus karena belas kasihan pada saya dan untuk rahmat-Nya !!


Q: What you think about the church that blessing the gay and lesbian marriage?
Q: Apa pendapatmu tentang gereja yang memberkati pernikahan LGBT?


Ryan: I think it is sad how so many churches have decided to become friends of the world instead of being friends with God. James 4:4 warns us: "You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." These churches preach a worldly message because they only want more money that comes from having more members. When the church conforms itself to the world it dilutes the message of the Gospel. Ultimately, we will be judged by God for how we lead other people. The Gospels warn those who are leaders in the Church that they will be judged harsher. Woe to any church that blesses sin and woe to the people who follow false teachings!

Ryan: Menyedihkan bagaimana begitu banyak gereja telah memutuskan untuk menjadi teman dari dunia bukannya berteman dengan Allah. Yakobus 4: 4 memperingatkan kita: "Hai kamu, orang-orang yang tidak setia! Tidakkah kamu tahu, bahwa persahabatan dengan dunia adalah permusuhan dengan Allah? Jadi barangsiapa hendak menjadi sahabat dunia ini, ia menjadikan dirinya musuh Allah." Gereja-gereja ini memberitakan pesan duniawi karena mereka hanya ingin lebih banyak uang yang datang dari memiliki lebih banyak anggota. Ketika gereja menjadi sama dengan dunia itu akan melemahkan pesan Injil. Pada akhirnya, kita akan dihakimi oleh Allah untuk bagaimana kita memimpin orang lain. Injil memperingatkan mereka yang merupakan pemimpin dalam Gereja mereka akan dinilai lebih keras. Celakalah setiap gereja yang memberkati dosa dan celakalah orang-orang yang mengikuti ajaran palsu!



Q: What do you think about Indonesia?
Q: Apa pendapatmu tentang Indonesia?


Ryan: I think Indonesia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world! With it's many rainforests, volcanoes and beaches; I would love to visit there someday! I would love to try Indonesian cuisine like Gulai Ayam and Rendang! The people of Indonesia appear warm and friendly and I would love to meet more of them!

Ryan: Indonesia adalah salah satu negara yang paling indah di dunia! Dengan banyak hutan hujan, gunung berapi dan pantai; Saya akan senang untuk berkunjung ke sana suatu hari nanti! Saya akan senang untuk mencoba masakan Indonesia seperti Gulai Ayam dan Rendang! Rakyat Indonesia yang hangat dan ramah dan saya akan senang untuk bertemu lebih dari mereka!


However, with all due respect, the government of Indonesia needs to do a better job protecting the rights of it's Christian citizens. There has been an unprecedented amount of unjust church property seizures that has occured in Indonesia over the last couple of years. Sharia Law must NOT be allowed to take hold of the beautiful country of Indonesia and people must fight against it. Just a few days ago in the state of Aceh an elderly Christian woman was cained in accordance to Sharia Law:
Namun, dengan segala hormat, pemerintah Indonesia perlu melakukan pekerjaan yang lebih baik melindungi hak-hak itu warga Kristen. Telah ada sejumlah belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya dari ketidakadilan penyitaan properti gereja yang telah terjadi di Indonesia selama beberapa tahun terakhir. Hukum syariah harus TIDAK diperbolehkan untuk memegang negara yang indah dari Indonesia dan orang-orang harus berjuang melawan itu. Hanya beberapa hari yang lalu di negara bagian Aceh seorang wanita Kristen tua itu dihukum sesuai dengan Hukum Syariah:

And despite the 'Religious Harmony' law that was passed, thousands of Christian churches have been closed and have continued to be closed by the government and Islamic authorities:
Dan meskipun hukum 'Kerukunan Umat Beragama' yang disahkan, ribuan gereja Kristen telah ditutup dan terus ditutup oleh otoritas pemerintah dan Islam:
People need to be respectful to eachother and not let the growing tide of Islamic extremism take over their beautiful nation. Christians in Indonesia shouldn't be silent in the face of this persecution. They also need to know that we are praying for them and their safety.

Q: Would you like to have a gig in Indonesia someday?
Q: Apa kalian ingin bermain di Indonesia suatu hari nanti?
Ryan: Absolutely! True Strength would love to play a concert in Indonesia someday!
Ryan: Tentunya! True Strength akan senang untuk bermain konser di Indonesia suatu hari nanti!


Q: What do you guys think about the radical terrorist acts by ISIS and others?
Q: Apa pendapatmu tentang gerakan radikal teroris seperti ISIS dan yang lain?


Ryan: I think they are the epitome of cowardice and pure evil. I pray that they are defeated from the face of the Earth. It is hard to believe that a barbaric ideology such as theirs is even able to propogate itself in the 21st century. They have caused so much pain and death to the Christians of the Middle East and Asia. They will be judged by the blood of the martyrs that have been spilled by their weapons. I pray that God will soften their hearts and make them see the Truth, and I pray that they will turn to Christ and repent for the sins they have committed.

We have addressed this subject in several songs on "Steel Evangelist" and on our debut album "The Cross Will Always Prevail". Songs like: "Under the Scimitar", "Christian Battle-Cry", "Woe to the Sons of Ishmael", "Twenty-One Martyrs Clothed in Orange" and "Blood Waters the Cedars of Lebanon".

"No Cheek Left to Turn" is about the ongoing persecution of Christianity by atheist China, the secular West and the Islamic Middle-East. 
"No Cheek Left to Turn" adalah tentang penganiayaan yang sedang berlangsung Kristen oleh ateis China, sekuler Barat dan Islam Timur Tengah.

"Steel Evangelist" is a Christian heavy metal anthem.

"Twenty-One Martyrs Clothed in Orange" mengenang kekejaman baru-baru ini dilakukan oleh kelompok teroris ISIS di Libya, ketika mereka menghukum mati 21 nelayan Kristen Koptik di tepi Laut Mediterania dan bagaimana mereka 21 orang Kristen akan selalu dikenang sebagai martir karena iman mereka dalam Yesus Kristus.
"The War We Fight" is about how for us Christians, fight a spiritual war, not a violent or physical one.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
Q: Apa rencana kalian kedepan?
Ryan: Ultimately, that is for God to decide. If God is willing I would love to record albums with True Strength until my last breath! We had a lot of production delays during the "Steel Evangelist" album and during that time I was able to write our third album which I will begin recording in a few months!
Ryan: Pada akhirnya, Tuhan yang memutuskan. Jika Tuhan bersedia saya akan senang untuk merekam album dengan True Strength sampai napas terakhir saya!
