Q: How Bloodgood formed?

Q: Bagaimana Bloodgood terbentuk?

Michael Bloodgood: I was working at a guitar store in the Seattle are back in the early 80s. Many of my customers were metalheads, but there was no kind of outreach to these kids. There was no such thing as Christian metal. So my friend and I began praying that God would find a way to reach them and as I began to pray, I felt the Lord leading me to start a metal band.

Michael Bloodgood: For over a year and a half, JT Taylor (the band’s first drummer) began to pray for the rest of the band members, whomever they might be. Eventually David Zaffiro had the same calling as we did, so the three of us began rehearsing and getting our chops together. Of course, no one knew of a Christian metal singer, so I took out an ad in a local Seattle magazine. Among many others, Les Carlsen answered the ad. We all met at a local coffee shop and decided to form the band without even having played together yet.

Michael Bloodgood: Selama lebih dari satu setengah tahun, JT Taylor (drummer pertama band) mulai berdoa untuk sisa anggota band, siapapun mereka mungkin. Q: Why did you choose Bloodgood as the band's name?

Michael Bloodgood: My last name always sounded like a great name for a rock band. However, I created a list of what I thought were some good names for a band and put them on list and showed them to a lot of younger customers (who didn’t know my name) and asked them to pick their favorite. Far and above, they all chose BLOODGOOD as their favorite name.

Q: What the purpose of forming this band?

Michael Bloodgood: To reach the lost with the Gospel of Christ.

Q: Who are your music influences?

Michael Bloodgood: My personal influences would include the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppline, Deep Purple, Dio, Iron Maiden, and many others.

Q: Do you have a testimony with Christ in your life?

Michael Bloodgood: All of us in BLOODGOOD have personal testimonies for sure. One of my favorite testimonies regarding the band would be a young man who came to one of our shows. Though he was a drug addict, his father, a minister, told him not to come to our show as it might “confuse” him. Well, after the show, he took out his syringe, smashed it on the floor, and said he wanted to trade it for a new life in Christ. Months later, we received a letter from his father apologizing for his attitude towards BLOODGOOD and informed us that he and his son were now doing street evangelism together. I love that story!

Michael Bloodgood: Semua dari kita di Bloodgood memiliki kesaksian pribadi pasti. Salah satu kesaksian favorit saya mengenai band ini adalah seorang pemuda yang datang ke salah satu acara kami. Q: What you think about the church that blessing the gay and lesbian marriage?

Michael Bloodgood: Most of the church today is apostate and no longer following the clear teaching of the Bible. When God’s Word is no longer the final authority for any church or denomination, then it is no longer a real church.

Michael Bloodgood: Sebagian besar gereja saat ini adalah murtad dan tidak lagi mengikuti ajaran Alkitab yang jelas. Ketika Firman Tuhan tidak lagi prioritas akhir untuk setiap gereja atau denominasi, maka hal ini tidak lagi menjadi sebuah gereja yang nyata.

Q: What do you think about Indonesia?

Michael Bloodgood: I have always had an interest in Indonesia because of my Dutch ancestry. I know the Dutch East India Company began to do business in Indonesia in the early part of the 17th Century, and one of my ancestors was a shipbuilder and may have visited there himself.

Michael Bloodgood: Any ideology that teaches and practices terrorism must be stopped.

Michael Bloodgood: Setiap ideologi yang mengajarkan dan mempraktekkan terorisme harus dihentikan.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

Q: Apa rencana kalian kedepan?

Michael Bloodgood: We are continuing to perform wherever we can. We recently played in several festivals in both California and Iowa, along with fly out dates to Germany and Scandinavia. A full-length documentary about BLOODGOOD called “The Trenches of Rock” will be premiering at several film festivals this year in the USA and will be released to the general public sometime in 2017. We are beginning to write for a new project as well.

Michael Bloodgood: Keep your hearts and minds fixed on Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:1-3). Only He can change the world, but it begins by letting Him change you!
